In early April 2025, we welcomed a litter of 4 kittens on site named Truffle, Bruschetta, Vino and Olive. At just six weeks old, this litter was found as strays and taken straight to the vets, where they were hospitalised with severe cat flu. Once they were well enough to be discharged, they came into our care to continue their treatment. Several still had eye issues and cat flu symptoms, which meant they needed specialist support, isolation and careful monitoring as they recovered.
Their medical challenges made their care more complex, but our team made sure they had the attention, socilisation and reassurance they needed every day, and it was worth every moment.
Their personalities soon emerged. Most of the kittens were confident and curious from day one, while Bruschetta was far more nervous and needed extra encouragement. With patience and gentle handling, they gradually grew stronger, more trusting and ready for new homes.
As they continued to recover, the adoptions began. By 1st August, all 4 kittens managed to find their forever homes! One family came in hoping to meet Truffle, but when they saw little Bruschetta in the pen next door, the last of the litter still waiting, they knew they could not leave her behind. They took both home, and the family told us that “the girls have settled in so well. Within a day or so they started coming out of their safe place/hiding spots, trusting us and exploring. Bruschetta has really surprised us – absolutely petrified at first to now snuggling up and embracing all the love”
All four kittens are now in loving homes, each getting the comfort, affection and care they deserved after such a difficult beginning. Their story shows that even when a litter arrives with complex medical needs, we are here to give them a second chance and help them find the future they deserve.
Providing animals with specialist care like this can have a real strain on resources, with both vet care and staff time incurring a high cost. We simply couldn’t help animals like these kittens without support from people like you.
