From the Mini (ages 3-8) 1.2km dash to the Junior (ages 9-15) 4km challenge, the AJ Bell Junior & Mini Great North Run is a great day for young runners and a great opportunity for them to support an important cause.

If you know any young runners taking part in the AJ Bell Junior & Mini Great North Run in 2026, who would like to join Team Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter in raising funds for animals in need, let us know here or send an email to fundraising@dogandcatshelter.com.

By joining Team Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter, Mini and Junior runners will receive:

• A fundraising pack with everything you need to raise funds for the animals in our care
• A Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter running top to wear on the day
• A Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter wristband
• An invitation to our GNR Coffee Morning, held onsite at the Shelter
• The chance to meet our Shelter mascots Mutley and Mittens on the day of the run, who will be taking part in the mascot race
• A commemorative well done certificate which will be posted out after the run
