Volunteer with us
Volunteers are a crucial part of our team here at Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter. We are lucky and incredibly grateful to have so many loyal and dedicated volunteers and are always looking for new volunteer team members.
There are so many ways you can volunteer. From helping in animal care to becoming a shop volunteer or joining as admin support.
Below is a small selection of volunteering roles that we have available, and we are regularly developing new roles.
If there isn’t anything that is of interest to you currently, or if you feel you have skills or experience that you think would be beneficial to us, please do get in touch at volunteering@dogandcatshelter.com
Open day Wednesday 21st January 2026
Ever thought about volunteering with us but not sure where to start?
On Wednesday 21st January, we are opening our doors for a Front of House Volunteer Open Day (1pm-3pm) at Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter. This is a chance to visit the shelter, meet the team, and learn more about our reception based volunteer roles, including welcoming visitors and handling telephone enquiries.
If you are friendly, organised, and looking to support animals by helping people, we would love to meet you.
Places are limited. Register your interest via the link.
Please note that you must be aged 18+ to volunteer at the Shelter
