Supporting our local community

Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter host events throughout the North East as well as on site at our rehoming centre in Benton.

We also work to give back to the community around us in sharing the joy of our animals with vulnerable people and those in need.

Your donations help support the work we do not only in the shelter, but amongst our community.

    Sunday 13th September 2026

    Join Team Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter at the landmark 45th AJ Bell Great North Run in 2026, the worlds biggest and best half-marathon, starting in the city centre of Newcastle upon Tyne, taking you across the iconic Tyne Bridge through Gateshead, to the stunning coastline in South Shields.

    12th July 2026

    This exciting, returning 10k is a road closed event taking in the beautiful countryside lanes around Newcastle airport and Dinnington, making a perfect course for a summer run.
