Angelica's Journey

Angelica’s journey with us truly embodies the Shelter’s mission. After spending more than 400 days in our care, we are delighted to share that this remarkable two year old Cane Corso has finally found the loving home she always deserved!

Angelica arrived at the Shelter in December 2024 in a very poor condition. From the moment she came through our doors, it was clear she had experienced a difficult past. She was frightened and deeply mistrustful of the people around her, and she was suffering from several medical issues, including severely sore and infected eyes that must have caused her significant discomfort.

Our veterinary team quickly began treatment to address her health concerns, while staff worked patiently to help her feel safe. Day by day, Angelica began to learn that she was no longer alone and that kindness, routine and care could be trusted. Building that confidence took time, dedication and consistency, but slowly her personality began to shine through.

Because of her specific needs, finding the right home for Angelica was never going to be quick. We knew she needed a family willing to understand her journey and give her the stability she deserved. After more than a year at the Shelter, that moment finally came.

Angelica’s forever home

In late December, Angelica met her new family for the first time and the connection was immediate. Following several successful introductions and socialisation sessions, she was ready to leave the Shelter and begin her new life. She settled into her home almost instantly, as though she had always belonged there.

Her adopters later shared these words with us:

“Meeting and adopting Angelica has honestly been the best thing to happen to us for a long time. It’s crazy to believe the confident overgrown puppy I know now arrived at the shelter scared, skinny and in pain.

She truly is a testament to the amazing work you do there. When it was time for her to visit us at home, she walked in and settled as if she had always been with us.

She is now acting like a typical Corso, full of energy, love and mischief. The difference in her in just a couple of weeks in a home environment is massive and a delight to witness.

I’m so glad we were chosen as her people as she really is a one in a million dog. The support and care from everyone at the shelter has been phenomenal. Thank you for everything.”
