Alan's Journey

We are absolutely over the moon to share the news that one of our residents, Alan, has found his forever home!

Alan came to the Shelter in January 2026 after being found as a stray and when he arrived, he was a little bit unsure of his surroundings but it was clear to us almost immediately that he had a lot of love to give.

Alan quickly became a fan favourite of all the staff and volunteers at the Shelter and frequently spent time in the site’s main office spaces as to give him a break from the kennel environment as he unfortunately struggled to adjust to his new environment.

It was made very clear to us that Alan really valued time spent around those who loved him as he spent most of his time in the office cuddling and playing with staff.

When it was time for Alan to find his forever home, applications were unexpectedly slow to come in. We turned to our online audience for help and we put out an appeal to share Alan’s story far and wide and before long, Alan’s story exploded on our socials and was seen by hundreds of thousands of accounts!

Before long, applications for Alan came flooding in and in early April 2024, he was officially rehomed into a family who could give Alan the love that he gives in equal measure.

His forever family had these lovely words to share with us:

“He is eating well and responding really well to sit, lie down etc.
He is a lovely, gentle, bright boy who is already loved by everyone who meets – the photos attached show just how much!
You can plainly see he has settled well in his new home, and our hearts.
He is a lovely, very special boy.”

Stories like Alan’s embody the importance that our community plays in helping us to achieve our mission of helping animals in need. Without you, we simply can’t give animals like Alan the home that they deserve.

Thank you.
