This is the story of Nova, formerly known as J-Lo, whose journey from a stray to a cherished family member embodies the spirit of our mission.
Nova’s story began when she arrived at our shelter, a one-year-old stray with a sweet disposition, yet visibly affected by the kennel environment. Despite our best efforts to make her stay comfortable, it was clear that the shelter life was taking its toll on her and she was very shut down. That’s where the remarkable kindness of Steph and Chris, a couple with hearts as big as the hills of Northumberland, made all the difference.
Steph and Chris are no strangers to the concept of fostering. They have opened their home to numerous dogs from our shelter, offering a temporary haven and helping these animals adjust and prepare for a life of love and security. When Nova entered their lives, something extraordinary happened. Despite having fostered many dogs before, Steph and Chris found an instant connection with Nova. Her blend of shyness and exuberance, her need for comfort and space to blossom, struck a chord with them. It wasn’t long before they realised Nova was not just another foster pet; she was the one they couldn’t let go.
Nova’s New Life
Adopted and adored, Nova (formerly J-Lo) found her forever home with Steph and Chris. Her days are now filled with adventures across the beautiful landscapes of Northumberland and joyous holidays in the lakes. Nova is thriving, living a life enriched by love, care, and the kind of happiness that every animal deserves. She has become a beacon of what our Troubled Tail Appeal aims to achieve – transforming the lives of animals in need into stories of hope and happiness.
