Hank
1 year old Lurcher Arrival Date: December 2025 Dog Number: 4891Hank can be rehomed with children 10+. He can be rehomed with other dogs but no cats or small animals.
Hank is genuinely the most beautiful boy inside and out. He has a real zest for life and approaches every day, and every person he meets, with the same friendly enthusiasm.
Hank loves to be out and about, exploring his surroundings and meeting new people – he makes friends’ very easily. Hank also loves other dogs…sometimes a little too much however, and can be a little OTT. If Hank is to be rehomed with another dog they will need to be tolerant of his playfulness and match his outgoing energy.
Hank has spent longer at the shelter than we would hope due to arriving with an injury. We have been trying to keep him calm as he heals…which is easier said than done with a dog who’s go-to behaviour is ‘bouncy’. However, he has done wonderfully and has been his typical delightful self for all of his vet checks.
Hank needs to find a family who are happy to help him on his road to full recovery as he does still present some lameness…not that he lets it stop him from loving life and enjoying every day!
Hank would benefit greatly from a family who are happy to provide him with some physio and/or hydrotherapy.
It is impossible to spend time with Hank and not fall in love with his quirky ways and heart of gold. We just know Hank will bring endless fun, love and laughs to the home lucky enough to adopt him.
Medical:
| Hank had a limp on his right hind leg when he came to the shelter. He had x-rays of his hindlimbs which showed a fracture of the growth plate at the top of his tibia (shin bone). He also had signs of a muscle sprain in his groin. He was rested, given pain relief and monitored with x-rays. Follow up x-rays confirmed full healing of the fracture.
At Hank’s latest reassessment he still showed some mild lameness. We suspect this is due to ongoing healing of his groin muscle sprain. We expect this to improve with time, although we cannot guarantee that he will not have further issues with this leg. |
