Saving lives in the North East for 130 years!
This year marks a very special milestone for us as we celebrate 130 years of caring for animals in need, making us one of the oldest charities in the North East. For more than a century, our Shelter has been a place of safety for lost, abandoned, and vulnerable dogs and cats, giving them the care, compassion, and second chances they deserve. Reaching this anniversary is something we are incredibly proud of, and we are excited to share a year of celebration with our supporters.
We have a variety of events planned across the year to mark the occasion, bringing our community together in support of the animals who rely on us. Our recent Burns Night celebration was a fantastic example, with a wonderful atmosphere and incredible support that made the evening a real success. It was a brilliant way to begin this landmark year.
As part of our anniversary celebrations, we will also be launching a special £130 for 130th fundraising pack. This is designed to help individuals, schools, community groups, and businesses get involved in a simple and meaningful way. Whether you choose to host an event, take on a challenge, or come up with your own creative idea, raising £130 can make a real difference to the animals in our care.
For 130 years, we have been here for animals at their most vulnerable, providing food, warmth, veterinary treatment, and the chance of a loving new home. Every rescue story, every recovery, and every happy rehoming has only been possible because of the support of people who care about animal welfare.
While we are celebrating our history, our focus is firmly on the future. The need for our work remains as urgent as ever, and we rely on the generosity of the public to continue being there for the next animal who comes through our doors.
We look forward to sharing more events, stories, and ways to get involved as the year goes on, and we hope you will join us in celebrating 130 years of helping animals and building a brighter future for those still to come.
