Volunteer Vacancies

Do you want to be part of our team, saving lives in the North East but without the full-time commitment? How about volunteering?

Our volunteers play such a huge role in helping us to continue our work and we are recruiting right now for the following…

Coffee Shop Assistant

Newcastle Dog and Cat Shelter are looking for volunteers to help in our new coffee shop Pawfect Cuppa.

Want to become part of this new and exciting venture all whilst helping the many animals in our care?

Our new coffee shop opened in 2019 and is open Monday to Friday 1pm until 5.30pm and Saturday and Sunday 12pm until 5pm on our rehoming site. We are looking for volunteers to help in the day to day running.

Duties will include:

  • Clearing tables and filling/emptying the Dishwasher
  • Restocking shelves
  • Light cleaning duties
  • Ensure that food hygiene, health & safety and fire regulations are adhered to at all times.

Experience is preferred but not essential as training will be provided.

Fundraising & Event Assistants

Do you love being out and about, meeting new people? Are you enthusiastic?

If the answer is yes, then how about becoming a fundraising and events assistant?

You could come along to our on site events at our Rehoming Centre or external events we do throughout the year and help us to raise vital funds for our animals on our stall.

The majority of events we host and attend are dog friendly so you also get to spend your day with doggos…bonus!

There is absolutely no commitment at all and you can do as many or as few events as you like. Even if you can only help for an hour or two, we are more than grateful for your help.

“I have been an events volunteer for 2 years. I help out with fundraising events and fundays. I love the flexibility of being able to do something to help the shelter in my spare time.”

Alison, Fundraising & Events Assistant

Charity Shop Assistant

Another great volunteering role is a charity shop assistant. Volunteering in our charity shops is another very flexible role.

You could help with anything from serving customers on the till to sorting out donations, steaming, tagging and putting out new stock on the shop floor.

Our charity shops are so important to us as they bring in extra income to help with ever increasing running costs.

If you’re looking to help out, maybe to fill an hour or so before or after the school run, why not volunteer and help a good cause as well?

If you are interested in any of our volunteer roles, please download, fill out and return the form below. You can email, post or drop off your form using the details below. You can also collect a form from our Rehoming Centre (address below.)
