Sashimi – Cat Number 1039 – Age (approx) 5 months old – Arrival Date January 2021
Sashimi is an outdoor cat who could live with children any age.
Sashimi (also known as Sashi) is just the sweetest little girl. She is very friendly, affectionate and full of beans, she’s your typical purrfect kitten! She has a lot of energy that she needs help with burning off by lots of playtime, otherwise she’ll start getting into mischief!
Sashimi was born at the shelter on the 20th of January and was diagnosed with a heart murmur at a young age so she was fostered by one of our vets until she was big enough in order for the vets to carry out a heart scan to get a diagnosis.
Sashimi has been diagnosed with pulmonic stenosis which is a rare heart disease present in cats. It is birth defect which causes narrowing of the pulmonary valve of the heart and an obstruction to the outflow of blood causing a heart murmur. Based on a specialist heart scan carried out there is no need for treatment or repeat scans in this case, and the prognosis is excellent. Most cats with this condition will reach middle age and a large number have a normal lifespan. It is advisable to have regular vet checks so that the heart can be assessed, so if anything were to become worse or abnormal it can be then investigated further. As it is a pre-existing condition, it may be excluded by pet insurance if any further treatment is needed in the future.
Sashimi went to what we hoped was her forever home but sadly had to come back into our care for no fault of her own. If you had already applied for Sashimi, please re-submit your application form to let us know that you are still interested.
Overall Sashimi is a little sweetheart, she is very special and although her heart condition will be a consideration for any potential rehomers, we believe she will make a wonderful and very rewarding addition to her new family.
