Cat Numbers 1969 – Age (approx) 8-9 years – Arrival Date February 2022
Diesel is an outdoor cat looking for an adult only home. Diesel can’t be rehomed with any other cats.
Diesel came in as a very nervous girl, she was terrified of any new noises or people when she first arrived in our care. She is slowly coming out of her shell and now often sits in the front of her pen watching what’s going on outside. She now loves her head strokes, especially when there’s dreamies involved! Her affectionate side is definitely starting to show, however she will still politely tell us off when she’s had enough. She has a favourite bed at the front of her pen, which just so happens to be in the perfect spot for some sunbathing.
Diesel’s previous home have described her as a quiet and nervous cat who fears strangers, it’s understandable that she is feeling overwhelmed by so many strangers and other cats, with all the unfamiliar sounds and smells of the shelter.
Diesel’s previous home have mentioned that she dislikes men, therefore it may be best if she goes to a female only home to give her a better chance of settling in.
Diesel’s previous owners have provided us with a description of what she was like in the home –
“Once she knows and accepts you, she will want to be around you lots. She loves company but is an independent lady so does not like being picked up, however she does LOVE a cuddle and if you lie down on the sofa with room for her to curl up in the nook of your arm, she will want nothing more and might even do her signature move – the ‘upside down head’ when she’s in super happy ball.
Diesel does love a tummy rub and she also loves the simple things, string! Don’t let her looks deceive you, she can be quite playful and agile. If you throw it near her, she will start to engage and gets into it with the occasional weird little back flip.
Finally, she doesn’t like human food much so she doesn’t really beg and is very good at not going on the table. She just likes tuna. She can hear you opening that can a mile off and will be sad if you don’t give her a little bit of the can.”
With Diesel being so nervous we would be looking to place her in a home on foster basis initially to make sure she will be settling into her new potential forever home, and that her new family are happy with her progress and how she is coming around. To prevent the extra stress of moving homes, we are not looking for a temporary foster for Diesel, we ask that you only apply if you have the intention of offering her a permanent home.
