ABOUT US
The Newcastle Dog & Cat Shelter has been in operation since 1896, offering our services to the public. It is thanks to your kind support that we have been able to continue with the good work we do for the stray, neglected, injured and abandoned animals throughout the North East.
We receive over 3,000 animals per year, which all need our help in some way, whether it’s to reunite them with their owner, find a suitable new home or provide veterinary treatment. We spend over £40,000 per year on veterinary treatment, that’s without taking into account our staff time and the special aftercare needed.
Between our two shelters we can hold up to 250 dogs and 200 cats and at present we are full with animals looking for loving homes, see our dog and cat galleries for some of the animals currently in our care or come and visit us.
